Ven pongal

Ven pongal is popular among the indian residents.Ven pongal is most commonly made of rice, moong dal,cumin seed,black pepper,curry leaves and ginger.Ven pongal is a simple and quick break fast recipes.

INGREDIENTS
Ghee-3tsp
oil-2tsp
Cumin seed-1 and 1/2 tsp
Black pepper-1sp
Curry leaves
Ginger- 1/4tsp[option]
Cashnewnut-5 to 6
Moongdal-1/2cup
Raw rice-1 cup
METHOD
1. Take a pressure cook,put the oil,ghee and when it is hot add cumin seed, black pepper,curry leaves let its splutter ,add curry leaves,[chopped ginger is option] and fry for few minutes.
2.Now add the yellow moong dal and roast for few minutes.
3.Add the rice ,enough salt,water[4 to 6 cups] and stir for a few minutes.
4.Cook for 2 to 5 whistle until mushy.
5.Mash it well and keep aside.
6.Heat ghee in a kadai,add cashnewnut and fry for few minutes
7.Garnish with cashnewnut and serve with sambar ,coconut chutneys.
